What’s On Thorold
The 3rd Annual Family Day Fundraiser for Community Care took place at Market Square in St. Catharines bringing children and parents to play for a great cause.
The event was created on the recently new holiday for Ontario to benefit those whose family day may not be as fun and bountiful as many other people in the city.
Last fundraiser brought in over five thousand pounds of food and nearly $5,000 that go directly back into the community since the sponsorship with Niagara Inflatables and the generous donation of the Market Square location from the Mayor himself.
Niagara Inflatables that brought a variety of activities for children to enjoy. Bouncing pits, slides, mini putt and great food — all included in a day that saw volunteers began their Family Day at 7:30 am.
Community care is a non-profitable organization that helps families in the Niagara Region. With nearly 41% of children in the area coming from lower income families, events like this not only benefit the parents but the future of the city.
While the five thousand pounds of food is great investment for a single day affair, they distribute roughly three thousand pounds of food per day raising an even bigger concern on what would these people do without the benefits of community care.
Luckily they don’t have to worry as many giving people gave up a day off from work to spend a day helping the less fortunate alongside family and friends.
